FCC Adopts Rules for IoT Cybersecurity Labeling Program

WASHINGTON, March 14, 2024— The Federal Communications Commission today voted to create a voluntary cybersecurity labeling program for wireless consumer Internet of Things (“IoT”) products.

Under the program, qualifying consumer smart products that meet robust cybersecurity standards will bear a label—including a new “U.S Cyber Trust Mark”—that will help consumers make informed purchasing decisions, differentiate trustworthy products in the marketplace, and create incentives for manufacturers to meet higher cybersecurity standards.

FCC Implements Additional Security Measures for Users of the CORES System

Released: 2024-03-07. THE OFFICE OF MANAGING DIRECTOR ANNOUNCES IMPLEMENTATION OF ADDITIONAL SECURITY SAFEGUARDS FOR USERS OF FCC’S COMMISSION REGISTRATION SYSTEM (CORES). (DA No. 24-219).

To strengthen existing cybersecurity measures and safeguard user accounts, starting on March 29, 2024, users of the FCC’s Commission Registration System (CORES) will be required to undergo a two-step login authentication process each time they log in.

FCC Approves Wi-Fi Management Systems to Operate in 6 GHz Band

WASHINGTON, February 23, 2024—The FCC’s Office of Engineering and Technology today approved seven applications for automated frequency coordination systems to operate in the 6 GHz band under the FCC’s rules for unlicensed operations. With today’s action, the FCC is approving these companies to operate spectrum management services in the band which is critical to allowing standard power Wi-Fi to begin operating in the 6 GHz band.

ISED is Soliciting Technical Comments on RSS-133, issue 7 and SRSP-510, issue 6

ISED is seeking comments on the following technical documents no later than May 7th, 2024:

RSS-133, issue 7, “Personal Communications Service Equipment Operating in the Bands 1850-1915 MHz and 1930-1995 MHz”, sets out the requirements for certification for Personal Communications Service (PCS) equipment operating in the bands 1850-1915 MHz and 1930-1995 MHz.

While SRSP-510, issue 6, “Technical Requirements for Personal Communications Services in the Bands 1850-1915 MHz and 1930-1995 MHz”, sets out the minimum technical requirements for the efficient use of the bands 1850-1915 MHz and 1930-1995 MHz by personal communications services (PCS).

ISED Yearly Spectrum and Telecommunications Fee will Increase on April 1, 2024

ISED has an approximate 4.4% yearly spectrum and telecommunication fees increase on April 1st.

This affects the certification REL listing fees based on the date the application was sent to ISED for listing. Invoicing for applications submitted to ISED on or after this date will be subject to this increase. If you have any outstanding quotes that need revision, please reach out to your local ACB representative.
